As a teacher for Early Childhood learning, I understand that it is my duty to act as a mandated reporter, while children are under my care, if I'm aware of and abuse or neglect happening to a child. I also understand the laws for child abuse and neglect per MCL- Section 750.136 b and I am aware failing to report will have heavy consequences.

Working in the field of teaching, I understand that it is my responsibility to be a mandated reporter if I see any signs of abuse or neglect happening. Being a mandated reporter, I understand that a lot goes into it because, in this position, I understand that I must report anything I am suspect of to the MDHHS in Michigan immediately in the way of an oral report and have a written report within the seventy two hour time frame. I also understand that even though I notice it I do not investigate it because it is not my job, my job is to watch the kids at the daycare while they are away from home. Being a mandated reporter, I do also understand that if I do not immediately contact the MDHHS there can be repercussions because it is my job to report immediately if I suspect any kind of abuse and neglect.

I also understand the laws of child abuse and neglect along with the different indicators. Some indicators are if there are more bruises than one can expect from any kind of accident, various stages of healing from unexplained bruises, any bite marks that look like they can be from a human/adult, or another one being unexplained fractures. When it comes to the laws, I understand that especially in the state of Michigan the person responsible will face a first-degree felony. I also know that to be under first degree any of the following will have had to occur. Those being intentionally committing an act of abuse in the range of hitting, yelling at them with insults of anything that will cause them mental damage and bring them down like, telling them they are worthless.
